Fredericksburg has about 10,500 residents, and is located about equal distances from San Antonio and Austin. San Antonio is about 63 miles from Fredericksburg, while Austin is about 68 miles away. In addition, you will find special events each month. Perhaps the biggest event of the year is Oktoberfest which is held in honor of the German heritage so prevalent in this community.

Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz, who commanded the Pacific Fleet during the Second World War, was born in this town and to honor him, the Admiral Nimitz Museum and Historic Center was created. This is a popular local attraction and it is a portion of the National Museum of the Pacific War. Fort Martin Scott Historic Site is another local site popular with those who love history.
