Also called the smartphone, iPhone technology is a mixture of Internet plus phone technologies that also have capabilities of being added to in function by purchasing apps sold by Apple Computers. The iPhone was named an iPhone because it was first machine of its kind to incorporate Internet technology with phone technology, thus the iPhone.

The iPhone is used internationally on different phone bands, but the meaning behind i and phone remains the same globally, internet phone or iPhone. Newer models of iPhone also include cameras with text messaging and video cameras as in the latest 2 camera iPhone 4. The first iPhone was manufactured by Apple Computer Technologies and were marketed first on January 9, 2007. The screen of an iPhone has virtual capabilities that allows for touch tuning to an app or to a process on the iPhone.

The first iPhone has now grown to enable Apple applications to be added on as accessories which include games, mapping as in GPS navigation, social networking and speciality advertising programs. Since the iPhone was first marketed, 4 models of iPhone have followed. The first iPhone used a phone screen that set the stage for future iPhone by making screen size and button placements precedents.
A subsequent iPhone the iPhone 3G added cellular network and GPS apps. Another iPhone, the iPhone 3GS had a compass, Internet processing speed and finer density camera and video. The iPhone 4 has two cameras.

New iPhone also have GPS navigation apps as well as text messaging and other social networking functions. The joint venture of Verizon phones with Apples iPhone has created a new iPhone 4 which is being marketed in February of 2011. Verizon's agreement with Apple has made possible to Verizon users Apple iPhone technology on Verizon phone bands.

The new Verizon iPhone 4 being sold as of February of 2011 has 2 cameras as well as Internet functionality like accessing email and playing games online. The fact that Verizon phone users can update to a new Verizon band iPhone makes it very convenient for loyal Verizon customers to access iPhone features in phones that have been sold using Apple iPhone technology. The Verizon iPhone 4 sells for under $200.
