EB5 Visas Are Available Through A Florida Real Estate Investment

By Jonathan Westmoreland

Foreign nationals often use the green card process, which allows them to become Lawful Permanent Residents. Those who hold a green card are able to live and work in the United States, and to apply for US citizenship after five years. This period will reduce to 3 years for those who are married to a citizen. There are several different ways in which one may apply for a green card: those who are able to invest a substantial sum of money in the US may often find the EB5 visas program to be their best choice.

EB5 visas are available for immigrant investors. Individuals must invest $1,000,000, but this reduces to $500,000 for investments in a qualified regional center (one with high unemployment levels). The investment must create at least 10 jobs.

The applicant for an EB5 visa should be an active participant in his investment. This does not necessarily require working full-time as a manager at the investment: the requirements for active involvement can be met through policy-making in a properly structured corporation.

One can now find suitably structured investment opportunities in different parts of the US. Foreign investors in these opportunities can become eligible for a green card through the EB5 program, provided that they invest a sufficiently large sum.

Applicants do not need any previous business experience, nor need they have attained any particular level of education. Applicants should be in general good health, but do not need to know how to speak English.

The Hollywood Circle real estate project in South Florida's Broward County is one example of an immigration for investment program. This development includes around 400 residential units, plus a 100 room hotel. Potential investors can check their eligibility for an EB5 visa by visiting the Gold Coast Florida Regional Center website.
