About the Silver Coast of Portugal

One of the biggest secrets in all of Portugal is the Silver Coast. It stretches from Lisbon to Fiqueira da Foz to provide plenty of activities during your stay. The Silver Coast gets its name thanks to the shimmering appearance on the swells of the Atlantic Ocean.

As you explore this hidden treasure of Portugal, you will come across lovely villages showcasing a genuine Portuguese way of life. You will live among the breathtaking seaside panorama lined with the finest seashores in Europe. Given that this region of Portugal is still largely undiscovered by the major tourist industries you are for the most part guaranteed to have the lovely beaches all to yourself. Even during the most popular times of the year, quiet, peaceful beaches are just a short drive or stroll away.

All year round the weather is mild, even during the summer months. The breezes provided by the Atlantic Ocean keep you cool, which makes this one of the best places to visit any time of the year. Sun lovers and surfers definitely lover the area, but others come to take in the scenery the impressive cliffs provide.

Another popular piece of the Silver Coast is the food. The majority of the dishes revolve around seafood, because they offer the freshest finds from the Atlantic. Then again; if you want to create your own specialities there will be fresh fish at the local markets as well.

If you're not a big fish lover there are still tons of options available. Everything from stewed rabbit with rice and lobster will also be on the menus. Plus there are plenty tasty treats at the end of your meal. You can enjoy home-made sponge cakes, bean pies, or even desserts prepared with fresh pears and apples that are picked nearby.

Wine lovers will be swept away by the full bodied reds and fruity wines the Silver Coast has to offer. Even if you're not a drinker of adult beverages there is a variety of light wines with lower alcohol content.
