Would A Collection Agency Target Shoddy Rollercoaster Tycoon?

By Rob Sutter

I enjoy the kinds of video games which let you take hold of your own environment. You should be able to formulate your own world and "Rollercoaster Tycoon," while not offering that exact scope, still gives you the tools in order to gain control. It is fun to be able to create an amusement park all your own and the fact that you can adorn it with rides and other attractions only sweetens the experience. It's when said experience becomes jumbled that a collection agency may be needed.

It's common that when you play something like "Rollercoaster Tycoon," you have an idea of what will work. For instance, several attractions that will bring paying customers forward would be of excellent help. In addition - and probably the biggest point to make - formulating your own rollercoasters allows a creative sense to come about. It's most definitely a unique experience but I can't help but to think that this system has faults which people can easily exploit when bringing to life such things.

I believe it was when I was a child that I watched my sister play this game for the first game and witnessed her creations. They weren't terribly effective, though, as her rollercoasters seemed more like machines of torture with more loops in them than what most people would like. More importantly, though, she would let these unfinished rides become open to the patrons. I think that while this game does pose a great level of creativity, there's an element of risk involved as well.

Let's imagine that the game would be hated by a group of people within a collection agency that suddenly walks into the park. For the sake of this scenario, let's say that they belong to a reputable company such as Rapid Recovery. Before long, you would see words like 'game over' appear over the screen before returning you to the main menu. Doing work in an effective, speedy manner, I don't think there's a need for a flashier message to be shown.

Being about to create is something that shouldn't be abused, especially when you consider the degree of power that accompanies it. Some people may simply find the abundance of resources too much to take in and I feel like that's when mistakes can surface. People are going to come across a few problems but that can be said about anyone. When the mistakes start to mount and they become major issues, that's when the perfect time for action seems to arise.
