Ways Bruce Karatz Changed Household Improving

By Alexander Conner

Though it's a name that you may not have heard, Bruce Karatz is definitely somebody that you should know about. He helped to revolutionize a company, and changed the face of America at the same time. From his time at KB Home, up until becoming a world renowned philanthropist, he's done quite a bit to help the nation.

During his time as Chief Executive Officer, the landscape of homebuilding completely changed. The company converted from just building homes, to building custom homes. With that, the popularity and profits soared.

by making those changes, KB Home skyrocketed in popularity. They went from a corporation with million dollar profits, into one with billion dollar profit margins. Plus they are still publicly traded on the NYSE. The first home builder to do so.

But helping people build their dream homes isn't the only goal that he had. In fact, it was helping the people most in need that he's famous for. After the LA Riots is when it really started, and Karatz received Human Relations Award took a front seat to lead the way in helping people rebuild.

But more than that, http://www.hbs.edu/leadership/database/leaders/bruce_e_karatz.html is still helping in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina. By providing free building services, or helping to raise funds for disaster relief, he's made a huge difference there.

He also started his own charitable foundation during the housing crash. In 2008 when several people in California were at risk of losing their homes, he took to action. His charity has helped thousands with their mortgage payments.

Then there's the work he's done to stop gang violence. Through several charities, he's taken a stand to promote education, and to allow gang members to go to school to learn trades. Thereby allowing them to leave the gang life, and start a real one.

He's had a profound effect on America in all aspects of homebuilding. But his effect can also be measured by the charitable work he has undertaken. Both have made a positive impact, not only in his community, but also America as a whole.
