How Morgan Wilshire Ties Into Wrestling

By Rob Sutter

Just the concept of an investment firm might not strike you as thrilling, especially if they know nothing of the workplace. People may immediately associate it with images of business suits and stuffed shirts, so how could it possibly blend into something thrilling like professional wrestling? For those of you who are indeed wrestling fans, it's possible to put Morgan Wilshire and World Wrestling Entertainment together like two and two to create four. This is how WWE can put a broker-dealer to use.

A broker-dealer, such as Morgan Wilshire, by definition, trades securities on behalf of clients or for themselves. When I first read this definition, I immediately thought of wrestling managers. When you think about it, a broker-dealer works to serve both his or her own needs as well as those they're partnered with. Wrestling managers are no different when it comes to this, so perhaps a company like M.W.S. can be put to use, though a bit of creativity is going to be needed in order for the concept to be successful.

One of the biggest names in managing in wrestling has got to be Vickie Guerrero, who can garner the hatred of fans as if it were like walking. Guerrero's shrill tone of voice juxtaposed with her annoyance factor gives her no other choice than to be a wickedly good heel. Even with these qualities in mind, Guerrero is not perfect as she may not be the brightest person when the heat is on. She becomes frustrated quite easily when someone pokes fun at her and her business savvy suffers, which is why a broker-dealer may be the best choice for her.

For the sake of creativity, let's name the representative from the broker-dealer "Jacob." Guerrero could be in the middle of one of her tirades and that's when Jacob would step in to conduct business without losing his temper. This partnership could benefit both parties in the way of entertainment, since it lends itself to an odd couple feel. Jacob could be the straight man in any situation and while he's capable of performing great work, he's constantly bogged down by Guerrero's lack of patience with teasing. It would be no surprise if the fans ate up every moment of each segment.

Such an idea as this has the potential to recruit up-and-coming talent onto TV in order for them to take up the mantle of broker-dealer character. Whatever position of a company it could be, the wrestler can play the role so that they show what they have to offer, all the while giving the company the body it needs for the character to be played. Gimmicks in wrestling still have a place in the world, for example Damien Sandow who is played by Aaron Steve Haddad. Sandow is a good competitor in the ring but what makes him stand out is his intellectual character that puts down the crowd with his extensive vernacular. This is one gimmick that works with enough passion behind it and a broker-dealer can work just the same.
