Kingston Upon Thames: London's Premier Suburb

By Mark Johnson

London has a number of suburbs. One of the most popular is Kingston upon Thames. It offers a number of rentals or houses for sale to those looking to move southwest of London. Kingston is filled with a regal history, yet has become a metropolitan environment filled with modern ideas that makes it perfect for different age groups.

The last century has established Kingston as a leading manufacturer of important aircraft for the military including the Harrier Jump Jet. Today, residents enjoy wonderful shopping opportunities and pubs filled with delightful spirits.

People who live locally are a mix of big city lovers and those who prefer the country life. The formation of Kingston's University has brought a younger flair to the suburb as well.

This area caters to all kinds of people with varied tastes. There are activities for individuals looking to keep busy as well as things for people who enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle.

Sports lovers gain excitement as they follow some of the most popular players in tennis and rugby. Wimbledon and the Rugby Club are common in the suburb, but there are so many other places where novices can participate in sports.

Kingston's location may worry some people because they feel that it is not close enough to London's centre. This should not be a concern since the suburb offers great transportation that connects it to the big city. London is simply minutes away from any of the three railway stations situated in Kingston.

To unwind in the evening, people living in Kingston have numerous entertainment opportunities. There are theatres that offer fine shows, restaurants that serve tasty meals, and a variety of art exhibitions. Free time can be used to enjoy the natural beauty that remains from the royal legacy. Richmond Park and Bushy Park are two of the most popular locations that are quite close. A bit further away is Hampton Court and Kew Gardens.

People who enjoy shopping have a number of choices to pick from. There are different shopping centres that include popular High Street names along with independent outlets that offer specialties and unique items. The Griffin Passage and Ram Passage are two places with great views where these smaller shops can be found.

People who love to eat will count themselves lucky among the locally harvested fruits and vegetables along with freshly caught fish. Kingston's Original Triangular Market is the long lasting gathering where people come in search of these riches.

Kingston upon Thames includes numerous properties that are both for sale or rent. All types of architecture fill the land from classic Victorian and Edwardian dwellings to developments along the river. There are also brand new flats filled with luxury features as well.
