Landscaping For Curb Appeal

By Andrew Hughes

If you haven't already moved once in your life, chances are that you will. We are moving more often than our parents. When the time comes, you need to be prepared to sell.

You want people to have a favorable impression of your home when they view it from the outside. This is called curb appeal. People will make quick judgments about the rest of your house based on what they see from the curb.

Even if your house is beautiful inside, you might never get the prospective buyer inside if the outside is less than desirable.

You can increase your curb appeal easily.

Don't ruin your chance at a good first impression. Your house and your landscaping are the first things your potential buyers will see. Keep them looking good.

Your curb appeal can be drastically improved with a little landscaping. And it doesn't have to cost a lot. Your landscaping needs:

1) To appear clean.

2) Have well-defined edges, and

3) Be colorful.

You can use raised flower beds to improve your curb appeal. Besides looking good, raised beds can also help your plants grow. They also make your plants look good.

You can build raised beds relatively inexpensively. Skip the expensive stones and difficult retaining walls. Simply outline the edges of your raised beds with a spade and add topsoil to the depth of about ten inches.

Two more things you won't need for your raised beds:

1) Plastic edging. The truth is that it's really not that attractive. It costs a lot of money and it's time-consuming to install. The beds will be fine without the borders.

2) Weed control fabric. This stuff just doesn't work. Weeds will still make it through and put down roots. It shifts and becomes unmanageable.

Landscaping for curb appeal can really increase your chances of having potential buyers take a look inside your home.
