Is ACN a Scam?

By John Carnegie

Greg Provenzano, Robert Stevanovski, Mike Cupisz, and tony Cupisz formed ACN in 1993. The name ACN stands for American Communication Network. It claims to be the largest direct selling telecommunications company worldwide. Its home offices are in North Carolina. Their services include internet, wireless, satellite TV, home securityk, and local and long distance calling.

ACN offers VOIP technology services. This means Voice Over Internet Protocol, and routes phone calls over a broadband internet connection. It appears to be less expensive than conventional phone methods. They also offer a video phone that allows people to see and hear each other, when each has a device supplied by ACN.

Company sales are created primarily by independent distributors. They are instructed to share their business and product information with their friends and family--their warm markets. And to encourage these contacts to join the business and share it with others as well. Their intent is to grow the business with minimal advertising costs, relying on word of mouth advertising. The company recently secured an agreement with Mr Donald Trump to endorse their products. This is unique in this industry.

To join ACN requires an initial investment of $495, plus monthly fees. The yearly cost is approximately $270 in order to be considered active and receive commissions on any sales made personally or my your team members. It takes approximately 50 regular customers in order to just break even during the first year.

For example, commission on a monthly service bill of $50 = $0.50. Securing 50 customers at this level generates a gross commission of $25 per month, or $300 per year before taxes and expenses. These estimates are similar to a reported $40 gross average monthly income for distributors in the largest multilevel marketing company-Amway. Hardly a living wage in either case.

This business does not qualify as being a scam. It delivers sound products and services to its customers. As a business, it is not impressive when compared to many other opportunities. A few top distributors earn big incomes, but the typical new distributor will have a rough time breaking even, let alone making any significant profit.

Who do you know who actually enjoys selling? Not many do. But selling is required to succeed in this company or most any network marketing business. Products must be moved to generate income. Independent reps must also recruit others to join their business and then repeat the process in order to generate significant income. If someone enjoys this business model, they will find a home here. If not, then they should look elsewhere.

Many home business owners have turned to the Internet in recent years as a means of marketing their products and services. This removes the burden of motivating others to sell so that you can make a good income. You get paid for what you personally produce. Some network marketers have learned to sell their products or services on the Internet. They often also offer their business opportunity the same way. It's a new and very effective business model.
