I will remember forever the day we moved. It was almost forty years ago today. My mama got another job in the country. We have lived in a big city our whole lives, so this was a huge change for us.
The year was 1972. It seemed like there were still many new sorts of music, my mama hated all of them. I was kind of excited for this move, but I was also very popular. This was my senior year in high-school. It was meant to be the best year of my life. I had known these folks since I was in kindergarten, so I was very sad to go.
My mom said I would find all new friends, and I would still have the best year of my life in our new state. We were moving to the country, so I heard that all of the country folk are customarily very friendly.
We employed NYC movers to do all our moving. We did have plenty of cash, so spending that on the best movers was certainly an option. They were awfully professional when they came. We had everything boxed; all they had to do was carry our stuff from our house to the moving van.
Back then, there were not as many huge moving autos to use. This would require more trips to get everything to the destination. When the men were moving, they were awfully gentle with all our things. I was watching them, because I heard that occasionally movers will pilfer your stuff. I did not want this to happen and is the reason why I was watching them.
The movers NYC did a great job getting everything to the cars. It took far less time than I believed it would probably take. They were able to move everything in only an hour.
