A Southwest - Inner Town community in Calgary, Altadore is found between 14th Street and Crowchild Trail bordered by Elbow Stream and Brook Park to the Southeast. The Marda-Loop Business Regeneration Section is located within the community, along 33rd and 34th Avenue in SW.

Or It could have been a portmanteau word whose first part derive either from "Alta", the old shortening of Alberta, or "alta" for high (the area being on a hill), and whose 2nd part was derived from "dore", a version of the French "d'or", or "of gold".
