Why families fall in love with the charming city of Grand Terrace

By Myra Smith

Home to an estimated 12,500 residents, the southern California City of Grand Terrace is as beautiful as they come. Situated between the ridges of La Loma Hills and Blue Mountain, the city provides a more suburban way of life. This west coast city, which is known as "blue mountain city" is located between the neighboring cities of Riverside and San Bernardino.

Whether you're a growing family or a couple looking to find someplace to kick back and relax, shopping for Grand Terrace homes for sale in a must. Between the quiet streets, low crime rate and friendly residents, this community appears to have it all.

Prior to being incorporated into it's own city in 1978, the community was part of the south Colton area, until their split. Originally called "Terrace" for its elevation off ground, "Grand" was added later to reflect it's breathtaking scenery.

Many homes for sale in Grand Terrace CA are reasonably priced with the average single-family residence price around $250,000. Starter homes begin just under the $100,000 price point, which includes a variety of mobile homes and condominiums. A majority of single-family homes feature at least three bedrooms, two bathrooms and larger than average backyards with great views.

A great addition for families living in the area is the fact that the city is served by four schools, including two elementary, one middle and one high school. Although the city's High School is currently under construction it's slated for completion next August. In the meantime, high school students attend neighboring Colton High School. The "blue mountain city" elementary school received the honor of being named one of California's most distinguished schools recently.
