Canadians And Other Commonwealth Nations Find Refuge in Costa Rica Real Estate

By Dale Jarvis

With the recent decline in the States greenback and the increase in other currencies eg the Euro and Canadian buck, we are seeing a rise in traffic coming from countries like Canada, Britain, France, Germany and more. What's the attraction?

The attraction appears to be the indisputable fact that when the home currency values high, their folks tend to invest. So while different currencies are robust, and the cold winter months are heading in to full swing, the interest in Costa Rica real-estate appears to skyrocket. Who doesn't dream of sitting on a tropical beach sipping a martini while back home your best mate is digging his driveway?

With a typical year long temperature of 24c, this makes for some of the finest climates in the world where 5% of the worlds plant species thrive.

Costa Rica real estate has been popular with the US for virtually 15 years now and with the current commercial crunch there, we are seeing more North Americans holding on to their money and hunkering down to weather the industrial typhoon. Maybe once the US manages to avoid economic turmoil, they will begin to start investing again however at this time, it's our best guess the US investment is down by some 30%.

This isn't necessarily bad news. We are on the cusp of what seems to be the dawning of a "new" property industry. One of mixed cultures and backgrounds from all over the globe. More of a change in market target direction while the Costa Rica real estate market appeals to a wider range of potential investors.

More and more every day we are seeing Canadian and EU investors coming here where their home currency is powerful and comparably speaking, the true value is contained in the standard of investment potential here matched against back home. Construction is possible for a bit less than 65$ sq/ft. Your money goes further here.

Not conditional on the level of investment, Costa Rica offers price and opportunity straight everywhere. From sub $50,000 foreclosure houses, to multi million dollar development projects, this is the time to purchase. One quick peek across the web will show you that it's a "buyers market" in Costa Rica.

So whether or not you are looking for investment property or simply wish to have a place to chill at for three months of the year in the winter, then might it not be worth considering having a look? You know, we weren't voted the "Happiest Place on The planet" for nothing.
