Rent With Bad Credit - Shortcuts To Do It and Myths About No Credit Apartments?

By Kibibi Jett

Think you can't rent a home with bad credit? Think again. Open minded landlords don't care about your credit report as much as they care about what you have to prove that you are capable of paying the rent. To succeed at renting a home or apartment with bad credit just prescreen, package, and present.

Rent with Bad Credit- The Myths and Especially the No Credit Check Apartments Saga

*You need a cosigner- No you don't. I have had great success with renting a house with bad credit without a cosigner. I have 3 foreclosures, 2 repossessions, and more than $78,000 of collections on my report.

*Your only options are no credit check apartments or no credit check homes. You don't have to limit yourself. Landlords are open to whatever is on your credit report provided you prepare them in advance of pulling it.

*You have to rent to own- No you don't. You can rent an apartment with bad credit and you don't have to limit yourself to no credit check apartments. I have never done a rent to own and many landlords are open to renting to people with bad credit.

*Prior rental history is required. No it's not. You can be living with your parents or friend and not paying any rent. You can still rent a house or get an apartment with bad credit. You don't even have to stick with no credit check apartments. The landlord just wants proof you will be able to pay the rent.

*You cannot have any collections, judgments, bankruptcies of foreclosures- If that was the case I would be living on the streets as I have two of the three. Even having a foreclosure can be properly packaged to get a landlord to accept your rental application.

How to Rent With Bad Credit- Prescreen, Package, Present.

Those are the three key points when looking to quickly rent a home or apartment with bad credit. Notice I did not say anything about a good credit report because your credit report is not the most important part of the equation.
