Palladium is Quite the Precious Metal

By Joanna Stevens

Palladium precious metal is indeed the understatement of the year. There is no doubt that this is one of the most sought after metals of our time. It belongs to one of the five metals that make up the platinum precious metal group, which one poet and scholar from Italy referred to as a hard to melt precious metal. The other four sister-precious metals in this group are Ruthenium, Iridium, Osmium and Rhodium.

Palladium precious metal is mostly used as an alloying element while the other four metals are put to several other uses. But in any case, all the five metals are used in one or another in jewelry making. Palladium is not as popular as its counterparts like gold and platinum precious metal but it has nevertheless got uncountable benefits as compared to them and one of them is, needless to say, the cost. It makes out some really nice jewelries and critics as agree that it is indeed the best possible metal that your money can buy.

Palladium precious metal has a natural white color which is far much better even when it is compared to other counterparts in the market like the white gold which does not really add up in its white color. Palladium is not likely to tarnish even after a long period of use. Because it is not coated, there will be no peeling back of color and have other plating start to appear. It is the best to use for a long time because it will always be as good as new, and just as genuine.

Palladium looks very light and indeed it is lighter in weight when compared to its counterparts in the market. However, it is harder than platinum precious metal by up to ten times and therefore it has the ability to last very long. The best thing about jewelry made from this metal, however, is that they are scratch proof and in case they get scratches, the scratch lines will not show on them. There is nothing in today's market that is going to beat the combination of a low price and high quality. This is why the palladium jewelry is the favorite among all the other precious metals.

Palladium precious metal is rare, but at the same time it is very cheap as compared to gold, platinum and diamond. At the same time, where most people are allergic to gold, palladium contains no nickel and instead of the body reacting to palladium, it in fact responds to it. You will find jewelry that is made from this element in intricate shapes and designs because it is easier to mold than white gold or platinum precious metal.
