What The Epithermal Gold Deposits Are

By Jack Wogan

Although millennia passed by ever since people first discovered this precious metal that we name gold, there are still many attributes that keep this metal fresh and valuable. Thus, gold has maintained its position of precious metal and still keeps its status of profitable investment even nowadays after so much time. Not only has it been a constant investment throughout time, but it also increased its value, making a lot of people rich and paying off in time. Gold is therefore a precious asset that hasn't ceased to make people rich from the beginning of times and until the present day.

Although the concept of gold is very familiar to people, there are not many however who are familiar with the origins of gold, with the place it comes from and the process through which it goes. Thus, gold is a result of epithermal gold deposits. These deposits are created by the subaerial volcanic activity on island and continental arcs, accompanied by subduction or on shallow marine areas, therefore under not too deep surfaces.

The hydrothermal fluids determine the epithermal gold deposits. Further on, the process of mineralization takes places at a depth up to 1 km, but on a regular basis not exceeding the depth of 600m. The existence of such deposits at a very shallow depth make them easily subjected to erosion and to mineralization. Moreover, the necessary crustal temperature ranges between 50 and 300 Celsius degree, while the pressure doesn't need to be too high, either.

If we were to issue a definition based on the composition of such deposits, one could follow two lines. Thus, the epithermal gold deposits are a mixture of either gold and silver or of the two plus other metals, like copper, lead or zinc. In both cases, the presence of gold is preponderant, no matter if we speak of a dual composition or even of a more complex one.

To conclude, gold still is a valuable presence on the market, still being a profitable option for people looking for a safe way to deposit their money, even after so many years. It is a way of securing not only one's future, but the future of the next generations, too, offering yourself and your children a certainty in the future. Under these circumstances, buying golden coins and small bars would be an intelligent way of investing into one's future, of making sure that if anything bad happens, you will have a backdoor for the emergency exits.
