Investments For Your Retirement Age

By Jack Wogan

We all want to be able to enjoy our retirement age. Most of us dream of traveling, visiting places that we couldn't during our youth because we were too busy, spending time with our loved ones and practically doing everything we want to. This means withdrawing to a place of safety as the French term retire means, but this safety should be a financial one too. But how can we have all that? How can we make sure that our retirement period is free from financial worries?

Some people associate the retirement age with that period of time when we become a burden for our children or loved ones. This pessimistic point of view should be totally excluded from our way of thinking. This should be a period of time extremely beautiful when our loved ones enjoy spending time with us and benefiting from our wisdom. To be able to do all that we need to make financial and investment decisions even during our youth so that we can be sure we have the financial independence we desire.

It is clear for any one that it is much easier to spend than save or invest, but there is a time when we have to look responsibly at these facts. The best investment nowadays, like in fact in the past too, is still gold, known as more reliable than any currency all over the world. This preference of people to invest in goods rather than currency is the result of the many recent changes in the business world but also because money usually cannot keep its value over time.

The wisest investors prove to be those who are interested in gold. This precious metal is considered to be the universal currency around the world. The raw material is extremely precious, but there are other elements that add to its face value. For example, items made out of it, like collectible ones increase their value over time. A good example would be the Gold Sovereign coins, made of 22 carat precious metal during the period of King Henry VII. In England, year 1489 they were made of 23 carat pure gold and weight 240 grams. The engraving depicted the king. Over the years this coin's purity was reduced to 22 carat in the times of Henry VIII and its engraving and weight was modified several times. Nowadays its weight is about 8 grams. Because of the value and because they are a landmark for the history of England, these coins are a great choice for investment.

Being a player on the stock market or simply taking risks at the casino table is not a solution. It can be fun but not very productive. It is not the way in which you can make sure that you can have a stable future and a happy retirement period. If you want to make the right choice you should consider gold investments.
