The Economy is So Bad that 6 of Octo-Mom's Kids are Working!

By Bob Boog

Fox News, the Internet, the radio, the people standing at the water cooler--everybody's droning on about on how bad the economy is. One comic quipped: "The economy is so bad that --Brad and Angelina are now adopting an American kid!" Another comic joked that "It's a good thing a late snowstorm hit New York. It'll cushion the fall of those flying stock brokers." The other night Jay Leno remarked that "Times are so bad that six of Octo-Mom's 14 kids are already working for Nike." I hear it everyday too in real estate. People sound like Rush Dumbbell when they say that they hope the president's stimulus package fails, but when they start to whine about how bad the economy is, I'll stop them dead in their tracks. I'll just say that that the economy is going to revive in June. Really? Yep.

Do I know this for a fact? Can I prove it? Am I psychic? No, not at all. I just know the power of a single thought. After all, that's how any great invention starts-- with a single thought. Because thoughts are things, incredibly powerful things that can trigger the mind into thinking of ways and means of how something can be done. People like Edison,Marconi, Alexander Graham Bell and others have proved it. When you start to believe something can happen, it creates a chain reaction for it becoming so. In real estate for that to happen, of course, the phone needs to start ringing in March, April and May, so I am envisioning that happening for me. I visualize buyers showing up in platoons at my open houses. I see multiple offers being faxed to me on all my listings. I envision writing several purchase agreements and foresee that I will be opening lots of escrows quickly and easily.

In my real estate business, it means I visualize buyers showing up in platoons at my open houses. I see multiple offers being faxed to me on all my listings. I envision writing many purchase agreements and foresee that I'll be opening lots of escrows quickly and easily. If you don't think this will work, I know how you feel. Many people have felt this way, that the economy is in too deep for anybody to want to purchase property. What we have found however, is that when you create a firm deadline for something to happen, that you will work harder to make the goal a reality. It's sort of like the joke about the blonde on the airplane.

A beautiful young blonde woman boards a plane heading to New York. She's holding a ticket for the economy section, but when she gets to her seat, she looks into the forward cabin and decides to take one of them. The flight attendant noticing her sitting in first class, tells the girl to return to her original place but the blonde refuses to do so. Troubled, the flight attendant asks her flight manager what to do. The flight manager says that he has a blonde girlfriend, and not to worry. He approaches the beauty and whispers something in her ear. She immediately rises, says "Thank you so much, now I understand". After hugging him, she returns to her seat in the economy section. The flight attendant is stunned and asked the flight manager what he had said to the woman. He smiles and says, "I just told her that the first class section isn't going to New York." Like the flight manager, tell everyone you meet the positive outcome that you expect to happen, and like the airline flight manager, some amazing and wonderful things can result for you!
